Lola Mae “Jo” McGee Ahlstedt was born on November 26, 1931 to Francis McGee and Frankie McGee in Carrollton, Texas. She was married to Elving Lenus Ahlstedt on January 3, 1953 at 8th Street Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas. She was the love of Elving’s life, and a beloved mother to her two children Ricky Ahlstedt and Rebecca Seeton. She is survived by: her sister’s, Bernice “Tootsie” Shamblin and Delores “Peaches” Bonnett; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. There were countless people who called her mama Jo because she was like a mother to so many others. She is preceded in death by: her parents, Francis and Frankie McGee; her sisters, Frankie “Big Sis” Parker, and Rita Winters and brother Vernon “Sonny” McGee. A public visitation will take place Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 6-8PM at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be on Monday 2PM at Trinity Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas. To honor Lola feel free to wear her favorite color, purple. Interment following at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens.
