Lucy H. Negahban

Lucy Hernandez Negahban was a shooting star who landed in Dallas, TX on October 30, 1955. Being named by her parents for the title character in “I Love Lucy” (the most popular TV show when she was born) was a stroke of good luck, for to know Lucy was to love Lucy.

While there are many positive words that can describe Lucy, the one that probably sums her up most succinctly is: dazzling. She was an energetic force, a hurricane of positive energy, and her compassionate and giving heart enchanted everyone she knew. Being around Lucy meant being showered with love, encouragement, and kindness. She left crumbs of helpfulness everywhere she went and was always ready to pitch in and give some part of herself so that another’s struggle might be easier.

Lucy was a talented, gentle, and beautiful woman known for her bright sense of humor, fabulous cooking, storytelling and sense of style which she expressed through designing and decorating (and there would ABSOLUTELY be crystals and sparkles on anything she decorated, even at Halloween!). She was full of creativity and vision with a designer’s eye towards luxury. Lucy loved retro fashion jewelry and was renowned among her friends and co-workers for wearing “something shiny” every day. Her choice of sparkling jewelry was just a warning to those around her that they would be dazzled with joy and brilliance when interacting with her.

Lucy’s career was dominated by over 30 years of service at the Black-Eyed Pea on Cedar Springs in Dallas. She took pride in her work, in delivering stellar service, and was a joy to her coworkers and customers, many of whom became very dear friends. Lucy made friends everywhere she went, even in the mundane tasks of daily life, and could capture anyone with her easy going and cheerful attitude.

She had a servant’s heart and kept a spirit of tenderness and a joyful attitude while caring for both her parents when they became ill. When they passed away, she found fulfillment in helping others. She was an encouragement to so many people around her - to know Lucy was to be uplifted in spirit.

Lucy’s sparkle left this world on September 27th, 2020. She is now reunited with her parents Herman & Petra Hernandez. Those who will miss her the most are: her husband Set Negahban of Duncanville, TX; her daughter Marie Annette Tidwell and Marie’s husband Brian, of Arlington, TX; her siblings: Yolanda Munguia and her husband Santos of Avalon, TX; Herman Hernandez Jr. and his wife Paula of St. Pete Beach, FL; Arthur Fraga of Duncanville, TX; Joanne Webb and her husband Doug of Dallas, TX; Rebecca Allison and her husband Andy of Longview, TX; and lifelong friend Frank Luera Jr. of Dallas, TX. Additionally, she leaves behind many nieces & nephews who she regularly lavished with affection.

Her laughter, love, and light will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have experienced it.
