Maria Socorro Countee

Maria met and married the love of her life, Joe Lee Countee over 45 years ago and from this union, 4 children were born. Maria has been a resident of Arlington, Texas for over 20 years and was affectionately known as “Suky”. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family, playing bingo and taking rides to the casino. Maria also loved to dance, listen to music, and play cards. She worked at Heritage Turner Pointe for over 15 years. Maria was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents Lorenzo and Maria Barba and daughter Geneva Countee.

Mourning her loss yet rejoicing in her purposeful life are Husband Joe Lee Countee (Grand Prairie, TX), Daughters Delia Anderson (Arlington, TX), Andrea Gordon (Grand Prairie, TX), Son Joe Lee (Magan) Countee Jr (Saginaw, TX), Grandsons Joseph Gary, Darion Anderson and Devawn Anderson, Granddaughters Joy Madison-Key, Gloria Harris, Ava Countee, Great Grand kids. Siblings Lorenzo Barba (Virginia Beach, VA), Raul (Rosario) Barba (El Paso, TX), Irma (Danny) Lopez (Prosper, TX) Noel Barba (Jacksonville, Florida).

The family of Maria Countee will always remember with deep gratitude your many expressions of sympathy, your prayers and other acts of kindness shown during the illness and loss of our beloved Suky. May God richly bless each of you.
