
Olga Shearin Colip of Grand Prairie, Texas passed way peacefully at home on Saturday, May 8, 2011. Born on March 7, 1920 in Van Alstyne, Texas, Olga proudly graduated from Texas State College for Women in 1943. She had a varied and interesting career during her lifetime, serving in many capacities from teaching, nursing and supporting our troops during the 2nd World War. It was during that time, in 1946 that she met and married the love of her life, Dr. William L. Colip, a longtime and beloved family physician in Grand Prairie. Olga was an amazing woman who volunteered her time and energy working and supporting charitable organizations, including the Scottish Rite Learning Center, First United Methodist Church of Grand Prairie, Texas Woman's University and Grand Prairie YMCA and many others too numerous to mention but all so very important to her and her community. Predeceased by her loving husband Dr. William Colip, Olga is survived by son Greg Colip, and wife Joyce of Houston Texas, Terry Colip his wife Pat of Denver and daughter Cathy Bailey and husband Jerry of Dallas, Texas her sister Lillie and daughter Lorrell and husband Tom of Arlington Texas in addition to very many special nieces, nephews and extended family, all of whom she was extremely proud of. To be sure, Olga was a very proud Texan and will be remembered fondly and with love by her dear family and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Baker Chapel, First United Methodist Church of Grand Prairie, 122 N. Center St. Grand Prairie, on Friday, May 13th at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Scottish Rite Learning Center, at www.scottishritelearningcenter.org.
