

Robert A. “Bob” Hughes, age 90, of Grand Prairie died Wednesday July 15, 2015 at his home in Grand Prairie. He was born August 11, 1924 in Oak Cliff, Son of J.R. Hughes and Melba (Hale) Hughes. He graduated from Adamson High School with the class of 1942. Bob served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps as a 1st Lieutenant flight Instructor for P-47 Thunderbolts. The family moved to Grand Prairie in 1960 where he started a State Farm Insurance franchise known as Bob Hughes Insurance Incorporated, and he maintained that franchise for 38 years. Bob had a wonderful, warm sense of humor and he was an accomplished artist and writer. He was a loving husband, father, and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Peggy Lightfoot Hughes; his son John R. Hughes and wife Vicki of Fort Worth; his daughter Beverly Hughes and husband Jerry Nabb of Santa Fe, NM; daughter Cassandra Hughes of Grand Prairie; he is also survived by his loving cousin Patty Sue McCloud; Brother in law Ronald Lightfoot and wife Pat; Sister in law Sheila Lightfoot Rivera and husband Louis “Chris” Rivera and a host of friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30pm on Tuesday July 21, 2015 at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home in Grand Prairie. Honorary Pallbearers are: Steve Matlock, Ronald W. Lightfoot, Rick White, Patrick Lightfoot, Clint Fowler, and Bryan Piper. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s foundation of America.
