

Sondra Elaine Perry went to her heavenly home on July 8, 2025. Sondra was born in Nocona, Texas on February 25, 1947 to Maggie Ruth Young and Loyd Agee Lough. She graduated from High School in Sundown, TX, and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from McMurry University in Abilene and her Masters of Education from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. For 36 years of her life, Sondra educated young children while teaching Elementary school in Lamesa, Killeen, and Grand Prairie, TX. For several years, she also worked as a grief counselor to people who had lost loved ones.
Sondra met the love of her life James Eugene Perry, and they married in December of 1981. They lived a very loving and joyous life together sharing time hiking in the mountains and exploring the world of photography until Jim's passing in January of 2002.
Sondra loved traveling around the US and abroad. She cherished her trips to Iceland, Ireland, a river cruise down the Rhine River, touring Switzerland and Italy, a trip to Alaska with friends and family, a cruise down to and in the Panama Canal where she had her first zipline adventure in Costa Rica, a trip to Israel and the many sights there, as well as trips with friends to Port Aransas, San Antonio and Fredericksburg. Sondra was a very devout Christian and read her Bible daily. She always had a daily devotional phrase and loved teaching children about Jesus.
Sondra loved hiking in the mountains, reading, working in her yard, working out at the Summit and at the Epic, and planning her next big trip. She loved talking to people, visiting with friends and family, celebrating holidays and most of all teaching young children about nature and how to read. Sondra was also an avid sports enthusiast who followed her favorite teams, the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys.
Sondra was preceded in death by her husband Jim Perry, her mother Maggie Ruth Lough and her father Loyd Agee Lough. She is survived by her brother Terry Y. Lough and his wife Donna Kay Lough, her nephew Jason L Lough and his wife Angie Lough, her niece Rachel D. Wilson and her husband Dean Wilson, great nephews Dawson Lough and Cooper Lough as well as many cousins and many many friends.
Pallbearers will be Jason Lough, Dawson Lough, Cooper Lough, Dean Wilson, Dan Bjerkie and Carl Emshoff. Honorary Pallbearer will be Verge Jones.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home in Grand Prairie, TX at 9:00am. Service will follow at 11:00am in the Chapel. Burial will be at 3:00pm at Dye Mound Cemetery, located at 381 Dye Cemetery Road, Saint Jo, Texas.
