

Thelma Rush Carter entered her eternal rest on October 2, 2012 at the age of 94. She was born in Mt. Calm, Texas on April 5th, 1918 to Joseph and Ida Rush. She was married to Jack W. Carter in February, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1957. She kept children in her home for several years before going to work at the Baptist Book Store in Arlington, until she retired. She was an avid doll collector. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, shortly after it was formed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 older brothers and her great granddaughter, Cassie, killed in the Wedgewood Church shooting in 1999. She is survived by son, David and wife, Sue, of Ennis, TX; son James of Arlington, TX; and daughter, Carol and husband John Latta of Coleman, OK; 6 granddaughters; 9 great granchildren; and a bunch of nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: will be 6 - 8 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Bean Massey Burge 733 Dalworth, with a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, at Southland Memorial Park on SW 3rd Street in Grand Prairie. A memorial service will then be held at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Baptist Church, 1300 Small Street GP on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Fairview Baptist Church or Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
