

Betty Elizabeth Lee Roest, 75, passed away Saturday morning April 24th at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus. She was born March 27th, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant, MI. and was the daughter of Joseph Leroy and Lois (Banks) McDonald. Betty had been associated with the Alanon Family Groups for 47 years. She enjoyed playing cards, shopping, and talking on the telephone. She was the spiritual cornerstone for her family. Her grandchildren were the focus and light of her life. Betty was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her arms were strong from working, yet hands that were gentle. She would listen and not judge and had a smile that would light up a room and a sense of humor to match. She was a woman full of wisdom with a forgiving heart. She lived her life on her terms and enjoyed every minute of it. She was the glue that held her family together and will be missed greatly and never forgotten. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years who she married in February 1954, William Richard Roest; seven children, Karen Roest, Patti (Bob) Leale, Barb (Randy) Hiemstra, David (Shelly) Roest, Colleen Derscha, Bill (Karen) Roest, and Janet Nielsen; twenty one grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one on the way; one sister Nancy Riggle; several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter Jackie Roest and three sons, Michael, Steven, and Joseph Roest. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday April 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel 2815 Fuller Ave. N.E. and Three Mile Road with Pastor David Kolker officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening April 28th from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
