Gramma,

There's so many things I could say right now. I miss you so much & I think about you everyday. I've learned a lot this past year & I understand so much more what you went through. You were an amazingly strong woman, and I'm so proud to have you as a grandmother. I love you so much. And I am looking forward to the day when I can see you again. Miss you. Love you.

In memory of you Mom, the flame will continue burning...

It has been just over 4 months since we lost you. My heart aches as if it were yesterday. You come to me in my dreams every now and then, for that I am thankful.  I love you, Mom..

Mom,

My heart is aching. I miss you terribly. I am, however, no longer fearful of death because I know you will be there.. waiting for me in heaven.  I love you so very much, and with all that I am.

Our grandmother had a way of touching the lives of everyone that she came near.  She was always inviting, and loved to spend time with her family as much as was possible.  It was always a blessing getting to see her and have her near us.  We are so happy that Grandma got to be there at our wedding and at so many other important moments in our lives.  We will miss you so much!

My Mother lived by this prayer which she had hung in their home for as long as I can remember...

God, grant me the serenity

Gail was our daughter-in-law's mother. Her love and caring can seen in Connie.
Gail always had a smile on her face. She loved being with her family. Connie is so much like her mother. We thank her for our daughter-in-law. She was quiet but her presence was felt. We enjoyed knowing her. She will deffinitely be missed.

We will always remember my grandmother's kindness and her love for all her family.  Thanksgivings in our family especially stood out.  Grandma, we'll miss you and we love you always.

Weeks have passed and we miss you more each day!
 Mom Gordon, you have been the best Mother-in-law a person could have!
You always gave me Love and Support with open arms welcoming me into your family.
  I loved spending time with her sharing her past experiences with me. Showing pictures of her family, friends, where she onced lived and who was who.
 I loved her humor, I will never forget the time she and dad, Alan and I were at a resturant and she shot her paper from her straw and it hit Alan across the table. He was in shock "Mother"!!, she just laughed.
Most of all I thank you and dad for your son Alan, for showing him what love really is and what family and faith in God is all about.  
 You have always treated my son Matthew as one of your own grandkids and showed him what a Grandma is all about.
  It was and Honor and a Privilege to have taken care of you on your final day and to be there for your family.
 I'll always be there for your family as long as they have me.

I am blessed to have had Gail as my mother-in-law. Blessed through the compassion she showed to everyone in her family, blessed because of the example she and Al set of how a couple should take care of and support each other through everything, and blessed through the part she played in raising my wife Connie. I will always remember the times spent up at the lake, at the family reunions, and at football games. There is a part of her that has been passed down to our sons, and I am happy that they will always be a part of her legacy.
We love her, and miss her.

While growing up & attending school with Connie & Al, I remember playing at the house & her warm smile she always wore. I'm still in awe of how much Connie resembles her-almost as if to carry forward her inner being. Gail would always comfort me around that darn lil poodle that tried to bite us all assuring me "don't you worry bout that pooch, I'll take care of em!" Never did know if it was a "he" or "she" just as "em". I so missed an opportunity to visit with her before her passing after being gone from MI for 35 years, however, I will simply pull out my memories every now & then and have my own quiet visits with her as she makes herself at home at the hand of our Lord.

It is not difficult to find things to say ... just which ones... when I was little, Mom pulled me and Alan to school on a sled in winter, was in the PTA, put me in a tutu and tapshoes and taught us the Golden Rule.

   Family always came first for her in many forms. A Godly upbringing, family dinner, mandatory family reunions :) picking fruit at her aunts, trips to the cottage in Newaygo with our VanDyke and Endres relatives, working at Prep with close family, devotion to Dad and her unconditional love for all, are only a few.

    She and Dad supported all the children and grandchildren thru football, band, baseball, basketball, track, cc, tennis, motocross, rocky relationships and childbirth; sometimes with one eye shut but always with love.
    Her example is a light for us to keep glowing as a reminder of how much her love meant, will be passed on and that Love Does Win!

Gramma,

I love you so much, I cant even begin to explain what a big part of my life you are. Although you are gone, you will always hold a spot in my heart. You have taught me to be the woman and mother I am today, and I will live the rest of my life living by your example. I will remember the values you taught my mother, who in turn taught to me… and I will teach them to my children everyday. Love is something you gave to everyone unconditionally. You have done so much for your family, you are our rock. When I look at you and Grandpa, I see something rare and beautiful. People search their whole lives looking for something like that, and because of you, I believe that love like that is possible. I already miss you so much, so bad it hurts sometimes. But its okay, because when I close my eyes I know what you would say, how you would say it, and exactly how your arms would feel wrapped around my shoulders… and you know what Gramma? I love you too.

Grandma Gordon was a sweet, caring, loving woman. I will miss it when i go over to their house and we would reminisce on the past looking at old pictures. I wish I would have spent more time with her and learned more intelligent insights on life. It is very sad that we lost such a truly remarkable woman, but it makes me happy to know that she is no longer fighting the pain and is in a better place looking down on all of us and guiding us through the good times as well as the bad. I will miss you and always love you!

Gail was the mother of Karen Klekotka, my favorite neighbors.  I will miss her white hair as she stepped out of the van to visit.  She was a very friendly woman with a husband to match.  Knowing her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and the kind hearts they have is a true testiment of her love and devotion to her family as she passed all those great qualities to them.  May God continue to bless your family, she will be missed.

Mom and Dad G.  Two of the most generous, caring, supportive people I have ever known in my life. Although we have lost touch in recent years, I think of them often and the great times and memories they created in my life. Not only did they have to endure one moody teenage daughter after Connie and Alan were out of the house-- they gained me as well and welcomed me in to their family with open arms. They took me everywhere like I was a second (well, 3rd) daughter. Long and short trips in the van or Omni with Karen and I giggling annoyingly in the back.  Patiently watching and applauding the dance routines we would expertly choreograph in the back yard.  Dad G would graciously laugh at all of the silly practical jokes I would pull on him. Mom G listened patiently over hotdogs at Red Hot Inn to the newest boyfriend drama of the day offering advice.  She would clean and cook the endless bluegill and sunfish Karen and I would catch every weekend at the cottage.

What I remember most was the love and respect Mom and Dad G had for each other.  I dreamed of having that same love when I got married. I remember Mom G’s giggle as she would reminesce about the “old days” sometimes followed by a snort that would send Karen and I into hysterical laughter. I remember both of them always being there for me when others were not. I remember the patience, love and genuine concern Mom G had for everyone in her life.

The Gordons are an integral part of who I am today by the love, values, advice, patience, humor and adventures that they shared with me. I am proud to call them my "other" parents. In my mind, Mom G is still giggling in the front seat of the Omni, taking us on a new adventure.  The endless memories the Gordons were a part of are treasures I will cherish and never forget.

I love you both, Mom and Dad G--thank you for being a part of my life.

Grandma, sitting with you was always a pleasure, and i wish you could have asked for more help, as I would do anything for the smiles of you and grandpa. I love you always, always filling my heart and reminding me that acceptance and nonjudgement of others is the key to good living. I loved our chats and will miss them, and hope to have many more with grandpa. You are by far a beautiful woman and highly respected. I love you grandpa!

I have to agree with my brother, our mother gave of herself always, expecting nothing in return.  She was a generous, kind, loving person, who never spoke negatively of others. She was an outstanding example for me, of what a mother and wife should be. She encouraged me to be strong, and stand up for what is right, especially if it involves the integrity of your family! She was always there for me, which will be the most difficult part of losing her.. It is not even comprehendable, to think that she is no longer a phone call away. I will miss her like I've never missed anyone. I thank God that he gave me this woman as my mother and that we had the time together that we did.  I LOVE YOU MOM! ..

Dragonfly

The most beautiful person I’ve ever known
Is the woman who gave me life
I watched her grow for 44 years as 
a friend, role model, and a giving mother and wife.. 

She made it look so easy, when I know it was so hard,
I prayed that I would have the strength and heart
to make her proud of me, so she would one day
say to herself, “carry on my daughter, you finish what I start”

My Mother is in heaven, her heart lives on in mine
I struggle each day, so selfishly. Even when I know 
how hard it was for her the last few days on earth,
to tell us all she’s leaving now “it’s time for me to go” ..

She continues to watch over us, although from far away
Where one day we’ll be together again, beyond that big blue sky 
Even though she was unable to tell me that she would be ok
She continues to calm my fears and ease my pain, when 
She sends the dragonfly..

My Mother was a guiding light for me throughout my life. She gave of herself without thought never to ask for anything in return. Her advice was always good and I will miss the talks we had over the years. Mom was so very deeply in Love with my Dad and him with her in return. My Mom was one of a kind as far as I can see. I never heard a bad word spoke of others from her and she always tried to help me to see the other side of all things to better understand life. She was so very gentle a person, but could give what was called the Gordon look when we got on her last nerve and it always was enough to change our attitudes quickly. I will sleep good at night knowing she lived her whole life by the word of the Lord God! I know she is pain free and is in the best of hands. Mom will always have my respect,gratitude,and Love throughout time. I LOVE YOU MOM!!!!!

Gail was my Aunt, my Dad's (Phillip) little sister.  What a great lady. She was always so sweet to us kids, and we loved to be around the Gordon's up at the lake, or at their house in GR for family functions.  I remember so many times up north fishing and playing, eating muss melon and watermelon on warm summer days after endless hours of swimming in the lake.  I remember the checkboard floors in her house, the big back yard, and her warm smiles and gracious greetings.

Later in life, she always seems genuinely glad to see me and my family when we would run into each other at the lake.  The few hours we would spend catching up with each other were fun - like we hadn't missed a beat since the last time we'd seen each other. I'll miss her very much, and will always remember those times.

We didn't know her well, but she always made us feel welcome and comfortable when we would come to Gordon family functions. She was a very sweet lady and we are honored to have met her.
