Dolores Jean Herbig, age 91, passed away on May 19, 2025, at Trillium Woods. Dolores was born in Grand Rapids on July 18, 1933, to Frederick and Maxine (Fosburg) Burmeister and was a lifelong resident of the area.
On August 23, 1952, Dolores was united in marriage to the love of her life, David, together they raised four children before David’s death in November of 1981.
A natural caregiver, Dolores devoted her life to her family and maintaining a loving welcoming home. A woman of deep faith, Dolores raised her children in the Catholic church, making sure they had a strong religious foundation. When the children were older and she had time to focus her energy elsewhere, she spent almost 40 years working as a playground supervisor at the then St. Jude’s Elementary School.
Dolores found her greatest passion in her family. From the small things like baking cookies when a child had a bad day, attending the sporting events for the grandchildren and snuggling the great-grandkids, she was always made every moment count. Dolores has left a legacy of family, faith and a million happy memories.
Dolores is survived by her children: Ellen Miedema, David (Robin) Herbig II, Rose (David) Adamski and Mike (Barbara) Herbig; her grandchildren: Jason Herbig, Stacey (Chris) Garbacik, Amy (Dan) Haner, David Adamski, Kimberly (Jeremy) Sunnock, Michael Herbig, Courtney (Arron) Golenbiewski and Kendall (Heath) Hale, and her great-grandchildren: Jakob, Tyler, Samantha, Lili, Landen, Keegan, Emmarie, Beckett, Eloise, Maddox, Caden and Zoe as well as many other relatives.
Besides her husband of 29 years, Dolores was preceded in death by her grandson Chad MacIntosh, her son-in-law Thomas Miedema and her brother Donald Burmeister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday May 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery next to her beloved husband.
Memorial donations in memory of Dolores may be made to Trillium Woods Faith Hospice or St. Jude Catholic Church.
