Ed was born on August 10, 1937, to Edward and Bernice (Henkel) Ysseldyke in Grand Rapids, MI. Ed graduated from Creston High School in 1956 and went on to join the United States Coast Guard where he served from 1956 to 1960. In July of 1958 Ed married Beatrice Balocan and together they had four daughters.
Ed was known for his tongue-in-cheek dry sense of humor and his astute attention to detail. Everything in his life was exceptionally well organized and planned out. He enjoyed spending countless hours working in his yard, puttering around in his barn, and he appreciated the lake activities where Ed and Bea built their retirement home.
Ed was a kind and loving husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa who treasured his family. Edward is survived by his loving wife Bea; and will forever be remembered by his children Cheryl (Jack), Barb (Dave), Terri, and Lori (Greg); 6 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Never one for pomp and circumstance and per Ed’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held outside of his immediate family.
We invite you to consider making a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association in his honor, in lieu of sending flowers.
