Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Shaver

Elizabeth Ann Shaver “Betty”, age 80 of Grand Rapids, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on January 16, 2021. Betty was born in Muskegon on September 21, 1940 to Elgin & Norma (Harry) Melven.

Betty was a talented artist who spent countless hours using her creativity to decorate birthday cakes for both family and friends. If there was a birthday, there was a cake! She also used her baking skills to work in a bakery for many years. She was a people person leading to her career at Meijer working first in the deli and then the meat counter before her retirement.

However, for Betty her family was her passion. Blessed with a large family, Betty will be remembered for her beautiful spirit, generous ways and big heart. She was devoted to her family and will be missed by all who shared in her life.

Betty is survived by her husband David Shaver whom she married on August 3, 2003; her children: Patrick Shaver, Mary Beth Lazar, Frank Lazar, Thomas Shaver, Tony Shaver, Richard (Laura) Shaver, Tina Brown, Ed (Kathy) Cook, Marie Dewey, Sharrie Riley, Cindy Clark, David (Tina) Shaver, Jr., Carla Fry, Jamie Tawri and Rena (Thomas) Landman; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; her sister Margaret Hickman and many other relatives.

Betty was preceded in death by her son Gilbert Olds and many siblings.

Following cremation a private family memorial event will be held.
