Frank was born in Grand Rapids to Stanley and Helen Weber on January 31, 1925. He attended Catholic Central High School and Davis Technical and Vocational High School before entering into service with the U.S. Army in 1943. During his two years as a corporal with Company A of the 701st Military Police Battalion, Frank was handpicked to provide security at the drafting of the United Nations charter in Washington, D.C., a highlight of his military service.
He married his ‘Little Flower,’ Loraine M. Thomas, on October 2, 1948. They raised three children and enjoyed camping, traveling the country, playing cribbage, and dancing in the kitchen. Frank worked as Supervisor of Personnel for the U.S. Postal Service in Grand Rapids for thirty-three years before retiring in 1981. He was an avid reader and his love of the outdoors often took him fishing, hunting, and golfing. Frank was a rare patriarch; loving, always composed, a trove of knowledge, ready with a joke, and quick to laugh. On his 99th birthday, he expressed to a gathering of family and friends that he lived a full life, married the right woman, did all the things he wanted to do, and had no regrets. An enviable life, indeed.
Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Loraine, and sisters Joan Waldmiller and Lorraine Fiorenzo.
He is survived by his children Paul Weber, Carol (Randy) Vander Veen, and Barry (Debra) Weber; one sister, Beatrice Zdybel; grandchildren Kelly (Charlie) Thompson, Adam (Brenna) Weber, Corie (Colbi) Dykhouse, Bradd Vander Veen, Jedediah (Marcela) Weber, and Katelyn (Chas) Van Genderen; many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 2275 Diamond Ave NE in Grand Rapids on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior. A lunch reception will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church following the service. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
