James Jerome Blaszczyk

James Jerome Blaszczyk aged 82, of Grand Rapids passed away Friday, January 15, 2010. He was preceded in death by his great-grandson Rylan Blaszczyk. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years Lola, children; Michael Blaszczyk, Patrick Blaszczyk, Jill (Harry) Host, Mary (Dan) Koorndyk, James Blaszczyk II, grandchildren; Nick, John, Mitch Blaszczyk, Christopher, Phillip Blaszczyk, Harry John “HJ”, Chad Host, Lindsey, Meghan Koorndyk, Matthew, Brittany, Ashley, Kyle VanOefflen, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, 2 brothers and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. Jim served his country in WWII and the Korean War. He spent his professional and family life serving in many clubs and volunteering in organizations like; Casino Club, Moose Lodge, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 258 and was a longtime member of St Jude Parish. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Saleh Dyke and Hospice of Michigan for the loving care of Jim. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Monday, January, 18, 2010 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1120 Four Mile Rd NE with Rev Thomas Page as celebrant. Friends and relatives may greet the family on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Reyers North Valley Chapel 2815 Fuller Ave NE and 1 hour prior to the service Monday at church. The Rosary will be prayed 7:30 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. For those whom wish memorials can be made to Hospice of Michigan.
