Kenneth Wayne Jones

After graduating from high school in 1954 Ken immediately enlisted in the Navy and proudly served his country until 1957.

After his honorable discharge, he was united in marriage to his first wife, Janice. The couple settled in Grand Rapids, and Ken went to work at the Post Office. Together, they raised three children.

In 1980, love would find Ken for the second time, when he married his second wife, Mercedita. Merci brought her three daughters into the family. Following retirement in the early 2000’s, they moved to Las Vegas. After a few years, Ken decided to go back to work, and was the friendly face behind the Player Club’s desk at the Gold Coast Casino permanently retiring in 2016.

In 2018, Ken returned to Grand Rapids to be closer to his children. He was a lifelong sports fan and spent his free time watching whatever sports game was on TV.

The quiet, friendly man was a proud veteran, loving father and devoted family man. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Mercedita in 2017, his sisters Betty Jones and Marilyn Stull, his brothers Russel, Paul and Loren Jones and the mother of his children Janice.

Ken is survived by his children: Kevin (Gail) Jones, Karen Jones and Brian (Kim) Jones; his stepdaughters: Mary Joy & Rasmus Bregenhoj and family, Dana & Jason Kelly and family and Sharon (Wayne) Lee; his grandsons Keith (Karen) Jones and Scott (Megan) Jones, his great grandsons: Henry, Colin and Owen, and his sister Jean Catelani as well as many other relatives.

A memorial burial service with family and friends was held on September 18 in Walkerton, Indiana.
