Kenneth “Scotty” McPhail, 83, of Grand Rapids, died Monday afternoon at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital. He was born May 25th, 1927 in Glasgow, Scotland, and was the son of James & Elizabeth (Black) McPhail. He came to the United States in 1953; he was an avid lover of politics and proudly considered himself a self-proclaimed news junkie. He was a strong and avid supporter of the UAW. He is survived by his three children; Chris (Mike) Wolski, Liz (Nick) Iuelle, and James McPhail; eleven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; three step-children, John (Kathy) Danevicz, Joan (Warren) Hockenbary, and Gayle (Dave) Hulswit; two sisters, Barbara and Betty, and a brother James. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary, and great-granddaughter Emma Grayce McPhail; a sister Mary, and a brother Boyd. In honoring the wishes of “Scotty” there will be no services following cremation. Memorial Contributions can be made to the charity of choice. Arrangements and care have been entrusted to Reyers North Valley Chapel.
