Larry graduated from Catholic Central High School where he played football. After high school, he bravely served in the United States Navy. Following an honorable discharge, he returned to Grand Rapids and married Diana Miller at St. Isidore Catholic Church. A devoted Catholic, Larry and Diana were parishioners of Blessed Sacrament, raising their children in the church.
A lifelong football fan, Larry rooted for Notre Dame. He enjoyed Saturday afternoons with his family watching his favorite teams play, whether it was the Fighting Irish or a team his grandkids were on. Larry also helped coach football for East Grand Rapids High School.
After retiring from General Motors, Larry enjoyed being a member of the Casino Club in Grand Rapids. He was an avid card player and loved playing Setback with his family. During Pulaski Days, Larry, along with his best friend Ted Szotko, enjoyed celebrating his Polish heritage with music and food.
As a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Larry was always kind, gentle, and patient. Larry worked hard to provide for his wife and five sons but always remained humble. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Larry is survived by his wife Diana; sons Steven (Kimberly) Bilski, Russell Bilski, David (Vicki) Bilski, Michael (Lori) Bilski, and Brian Bilski; grandchildren Meghan (Kody) Smith & Shelby (Scott) Mingerink, Christopher & Corey Bilski, Rachel & Matthew Bilski, Sofia, Nicolas & Vincent Bilski; great-grandchildren Finn, Lucy, Brahm, Calum; and brothers Herm Bilski and Dick Bilski. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Esther Szotko; and brother Donnie Bilski.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, January 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church officiated by Msgr. Hankiewicz, with visitation one hour prior. For those that would like to join the family for a rosary service, the rosary will be prayed at 10:20 a.m. in the sanctuary.
