Lonija Saunders aged 85 of Grand Rapids passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband B. Robert Saunders, son Kenneth Cooke and step-son Burton “Butch” Saunders. Lonija is survived by her daughter-in-law Sandy Saunders, step-son Robert “Buck” (Judy) Saunders, grandchildren; Brian Saunders, Jodi (Alan) Thompson, Tim (Heather) Saunders, Mike (Sara) Saunders, Lindsey Saunders and her fiancée Ryan, great-grandchildren; Benjamin and Erin Saunders, Connor and Breanne Thompson, Lilly and Coleman Saunders and one sister. Lonija was a great animal lever who enjoyed flowers. Most of all she was a very talented artist. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Friday, May 6, 2011 at Reyers North Valley Chapel 2815 Fuller Ave NE with Rev. Eric Carter officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 10 till the time of service. In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.
