Margaret “Peg” Ann Beckwith, age 93, passed away on February 17, 2026. Margaret was born on November 21, 1932, to William and Vera (Bailey) Van Luyn. She was raised in a traditional Catholic family, attended St. Alphonsus grade school and graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1951. On July 16, 1960, she married Robert Beckwith.
She was a charter member of Blessed Sacrament Church where she served on many church and school committees. Peg loved playing cards and was involved in several bridge clubs over the years. In her younger years, she especially enjoyed skiing and playing golf. She developed a love of sporting events at an early age which led her to being a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers and the U of M.
Peg will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and Bob’s family as well. She was close to her nieces and nephews and cherished the wonderful memories they shared of family events.
Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob in 2010; her parents; her sisters Lorraine (Al) Shangraw and Betty (John) Longstreet and her brother William (Sally) Van Luyn as well as her niece Ann Damuth.
She is survived by her daughters Pattie (Darrell) Ayers of Galena, Ohio and Jill Beckwith of Grand Rapids, Michigan; her grandsons: Connor Ayers of New York City, New York, Jack and Brady Ayers both of Galena, Ohio and many other relatives.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday February 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service.
