

Marjorie Elizabeth Brown, age 97, passed away peacefully, while in the company of family, on Friday January 6, 2017. She was born in the summer of 1919 in Fremont, MI to Franklin and Johanna Palmer. Along with her parents, Marge is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Hugh Brown, who passed away in the year 2000. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter, Marion (Bruce) DeHaan and son Daniel (Lynne) Brown. Marge was especially proud of her 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was a lifetime resident of the Fremont community and a graduate of Fremont High School. Marge would become a school teacher, teaching in the one room Packard schoolhouse in Dayton Township. She would later prove to be a dedicated employee with the Fremont school system serving as a secretary. Marge was a member of First Reformed Church in Fremont as well as Blythefield Christian Reformed Church in Rockford. She was a gifted pianist and often shared her talents by entertaining residents of the Meadows Nursing Center in Fremont. Marge was a prolific artist who enjoyed both painting and sketching and she also found great delight in tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. The family would like to thank all of the caregivers and nurses from both Green Acres of Lowell and Kindred Spirit Hospice for the compassionate care extended to Marge. Relatives and friends may meet with family at Blythefield Christian Reformed Church (6350 Kuttshill Dr. NE, Rockford, MI 49341) at 2 pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor Darrin Compagner at 3 pm. Marjorie will be laid to rest next to Hugh in Clark Cemetery in Dayton Township, MI.
