Mary Isabel Hedges

Mary Isabel Hedges, 90, died peacefully, Monday September 14th, at her beloved home on Diamond Lake in Michigan in the company of family. Mary was born in 1925 in Kincardine Twp Ontario, Canada the daughter of Robert and Rebekah Johnston. Mary loved her home on Diamond Lake and her Condominium at the beach on Anna Maria Island, Florida. Both homes were the site of many family gatherings throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Sheldon Hedges, her brothers Gordon (Dorothy), Jack (Dorothy), and Doug (Carol) Johnston, her daughter-in-law Susan Hedges (Heller) and Michael’s partner Aldir Otto Moes. Mary loved travel, snow skiing, and walking the beach. She was an “Outdoor” kind of girl and kept her loved ones on the move. Her vibrant spirit will be missed very much. Mary is survived by her children, Ellen (Dale) DeHaan, Mike Hedges, Bob (Jane) Hedges, and Tom (Joe Garcia) Hedges, her grandchildren, Michelle (David) Halley, Heather (Scott) Dood, Andrew (Marylin) Hedges, Craig and Blake Hedges, her great-grandchildren, Rebekah, Hunter, Eva, Miles, Kamden and Anya. Also surviving are Jim (MaryJo) Johnston and Peg (Dunc) Farrish. She was an active member of the Kalamazoo State Hospital Guild working on Christmas Santa Sacks and the annual Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social serving as guild president.
