Mavis M. DeWilde

Mavis Marvel DeWilde, age 92, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday, February 1, 2016. Born to her parents, Addison & Clara (Crapo) Wheat, in June of 1923. Mavis is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Dennis “Jack” DeWilde. Also preceding her are her parents; parents-in-law, John & Jenny (Bustraan) DeWilde; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sue & Ed Hollander; and son-in-law, Thomas G. Foy. Mavis will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary Foy, and her children, Sarah (Mike) Marion and their two children, Ellie & Hannah; Laura Hyler and her three children, Jonah, Alexa & Jack; Ryan (Darcy) Foy and their children, Emma & Clay; Daughter, RuthAnne (Tim) Woodhead, and their children, Jacquelaine (Don) Bowen, and their three children, Evelyn, Gyddion & Annoura; and daughters, Tiffany and Natalie Woodhead; Son, Mark DeWilde, and his children, Brenna, Dr. Burt, and Grant; Nephew, John (Cheryl) Hollander, and children, Jennifer (Kirby) King, and Dr. Justin (Lindsey) Hollander, and first cousin, Vi (Olds) Michels. Mavis was an avid reader and also enjoyed knitting. She would often knit mittens for needy children. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for over 60 years. Mavis loved sunny days at Rennie Lake! A funeral is planned for Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church (3 mile & Fuller Ave.) Pastor Kevin Sullivan officiating. A time of Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Wednesday evening at Reyers North Valley Chapel, and one hour immediately prior to the service.
