Peter Lyle Post

Mr. Peter Lyle Post, age 98 of Grand Rapids passed away on September 6, 2023. Peter was born in Grand Rapids to Theron & Pansy (Tippy) Post. He proudly served our country during WWII as an Oil King on the USS New Jersey.

In 1946, Peter married Beatrice Beyer, who passed away on January 9, 1996. Then he married Eleanor Colier who also preceded him in death on February 19, 2002. Not one to shy away from love, Pete married Lorraine Loef in 2003.

Besides his wife of 20 years, Lorraine, Pete is survived by his children: Richard (Kathy) Post, Judy (Bob) Bellamy, Thom (Ann) Post, Sue (Don) Wisner, Gary (Barb) Post and his favorite son Jim Post; his 3 stepchildren; Edward, Lori, and Leslie, 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Pete was preceded in death by his wives Beatrice and Eleanor, his daughter Nancy Lee and her husband Pat Lee, his son Don Post, 2 grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Peter was a pattern maker and retired after 35 years from Michigan Pattern Works. He was a member of AMVETS Post 30 for over 50 years.

His true passion was his family. Countless memories were made fishing on Hess Lake, boating on Reed Lake, picnics at Meyers Lake and at John Ball Park and regaling the stories of his naval career with the grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting with his sons for many years. He was the grandpa everyone needed and was loved by all.

Visitation for Pete will be held on Sunday September 10, 2023 (His 99th birthday) from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel where a funeral service will be held Monday September 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. The family will also receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
