Philip Marks was born in St. Joseph MI on September 27, 1959, and entered eternal rest in Grand Rapids, MI on January 18, 2026. A devoted man of faith, Phillip loved the Lord and lived his life in service to Him. Philip is joyfully reunited in Heaven with his beloved bride, Amber, in eternal and everlasting peace. Their deep and faithful love was testament to God’s design for marriage.
Philip took great pride in his family. The day he met Amber he became a grandpa; he loved that. Philip was preceded in death by wife, Amber (Belknap) Marks of Grand Rapids, MI; his parents, Adolph and Louise (Waldeck) Marks of Watervliet, MI; sister Kathleen (Roy) Letellier of Pinetop, AZ; brother Timothy Marks of Idaho Springs, CO; by sisters-in-law, Anna (David) Marks and Judy (Robert) Marks; and by brother-in-law, Thomas (Judy) Sink. He is survived by stepson, Matthew (Rebecca) Belknap of Ravenna, MI and by three cherished grandchildren; Cameron (15), Ryan (12), and Skyler (10).
He is also survived, with loving memories, by brother David Marks of Dallas, TX; sister Judith Sink of Chandler, AZ; brother Albert (Delores) Marks of Clyde, NC; brother Robert Marks of Waynesville, NC; brother, Thomas (Kathryn) Marks of Big Rapids, MI; by uncle, Art Waldeck of Decatur, TX, and several nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
Phil grew up in southwest Michigan and graduated from Sunshine Bible Academy in Miller SD. He had a passion for music and loved playing instruments, writing songs, and using his gifts to glorify God. He was an active member of his church, where his faith and kindness touched lives. Philip enjoyed the peace of fishing, especially during the treasured fishing trips he shared with his brother.
After a long career working at Amway, he found a second career in truck driving which became even more meaningful as he shared the open road with his wife by his side. Together, they traveled many miles, seeing the country God created and finding memories that will be cherished forever.
Phil lived his life for Christ, his family, and the simple blessings God provides. While he will be deeply missed by those who loved him, they find comfort knowing he is now in the presence of the Lord, whole and at peace, rejoicing with his beloved Amber.
Among his favorite Bible verses are:
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” — Psalm 116:15, and …
Romans 14:8 “If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord".
