

Raymond Edward Munson, 65, passed away on February 8, 2017. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, graduated from Holland High School, Michigan State University and earned his MBA at Boston University.
Ray was a decorated Vietnam era veteran, serving in South Korea, Germany and several posts stateside. He graduated with honors from MSU in 1974 with a direct commission into the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. He served as an Army Tank Commander in South Korea; graduated with honors from flight school at Fort Rucker, AL and flew Cobra helicopters during his tour of duty with the 2nd ACR in Germany. Ray was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Meritorious Service Medal, achieving the rank of Captain before separating from the service in 1980.
At that time, Ray relocated with his family to Holland, Michigan, was employed by Haworth, Inc. and later, became a partner in Info-Tronics Systems. In 1984, Ray became founder and CEO of Information Systems Group (ISG), retiring in 2008.
Ray was a baptized member of Hope Reformed Church and attended Christ Memorial Church while living in Holland. He was an avid sailor and a lifetime member of Macatawa Bay Yacht Club, serving as club Commodore in 1990.
Ray was married to Debra (Vanderham) for 38 years. He is survived by his children, Crystal and Matthew Munson; grandson, Marco Munson; brother, Rick Munson; as well as several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Ray will be buried in the spring time with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
