

Raymond Sweers, aged 80 of Algoma Twp., passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorna Lucille Simonsen Sweers in 2000, daughter, Deana Louise Sweers Novakoski in 2007, brothers and sisters, Jenny Alberda, Wilhelmina Heuvelman, William (Bud) Sweers, John Sweers, Julia Woodruff, Ethel Bont, Roger Sweers, Melvin Sweers, and Norman Sweers. Surviving are his children, Beth and Don Longcore of Marne, Terry Novakoski of Rockford, Raymond (Jamie) and Valerie Sweers of Union, Mi., Douglas Sweers and Alice of Sparta, Alan and Carolyn Sweers of Marne, Leanne and Rod Mackay of Oakland, Mi., Laureen Sweers of Chicago, IL. His grandchildren, Emily and Steve Rotary, Celia Longcore, Matthew Novakoski, Craig Longcore, Sarah Sweers, Ayla Cain, Alex Sweers, Jesse Sweers, Zachary Sweers, Troy Sweers, Michelle Sweers, Max Sweers, and Lincoln Sweers, many nieces and nephews. Raymond served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a longtime member and Deacon at Second Congregational U.C.C. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Reyers North Valley Chapel with Dr. Todd Farley of Second Congregational U.C.C. officiating. Interment in Rosedale Memorial Park. Novakoski Scholarship Fund c/o Northview High School, or to the Salvation Army.
