

Robert Lee Bloom, age 87, passed away at his home on October 8, 2025. Bob was born in Grand Rapids on April 4, 1938, to Harold and Elvera (Kallrose) Bloom. After graduating from Union High School, Bob proudly served his country in the Air Force.
In 1961, Bob was united in marriage to the love of his life, Flo Young. They spent 38 years building a life based on dedication and devotion to each other until Flo’s passing in 1999.
Bob spent his career working in electronics. He was the owner of Millbrook Electronics for many years, before completing his work life at Vanguard Fire & Security Systems.
Besides having a strong work ethic, Bob believed in giving back to his community. He was a longtime member of AMBUCS and served as the National President of the organization for a term. His involvement was acknowledged by awarding him one of Grand Rapids’ Hometown Heroes. He was also a member of the Elks and an honorary Kentucky Colonel.
When he wasn’t working, Bob was fishing or golfing. He also enjoyed playing cards. He spent many years of his retirement living in Hudson, Florida where he was surrounded by a golf course.
Bob will be remembered as a quiet man, who valued a structured and organized routine. He was old-fashioned in his ways but loved fiercely his family and remained devoted to his wife Flo, until his final breath.
Besides, his beloved Flo, Bob was preceded in death by his daughter Lori Bloom and his brothers Ron and Dave.
He is survived by his son Rodney (Jill) Bloom, his grandchildren: Ross, Matthue (Kayla), Amber (Jeramiah), Julianna (fiancé Justin), Joel (Bridget) and Lydia; 4 great-grandchildren and his brother Russ (Ruth) Bloom.
A Celebration of Life for Bob will be held on Sunday November 16, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Courtland Township Hall; 7450 14 Mile Rd. NE, Rockford, MI 49341.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local chapel of the AMBUCS.
