Robert A Mencarelli

Robert A. Mencarelli, age 86, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord, Monday evening, March 21st, 2011 at Northview Manor. He was born November 12th, 1924 in Grand Rapids, MI and was the son of the late Robert & Rose (Ambrogeini) Mencarelli. He retired from Steelcase after 40 years of service in 1984. He was a devoted husband and father, which enjoyed bowling and fishing. Robert was a long standing member of St. James Lutheran Church. He is survived by his four children, Sue Mencarelli, Steve (Sheila) Mencarelli, Mark Mencarelli, and Tim Mencarelli; two grandchildren, Alisha and Gina Mencarelli; brother, Harry (Joyce) Mencarelli; sister, Valencia (James) Rooney; sister-in-law, Josephine Mencarelli; special friend and care giver Sandra Castillo. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Evelyn (Matzat) Mencarelli and three brothers. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 24th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 2040 Oakwood Ave. N.E. with Rev. James Blaine officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the Church. Memorial Contributions can be made to Faith Hospice or St. James Lutheran Church, with envelopes provided at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend many thanks to the staff at Northview Manor for their care and compassion.
