

Robert Lee "Bob" Morton, aged 83, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, Wednesday, April 6, 2016. Bob was born in Westernport, MD, in the Fall of 1932, to the late William and Lottie Morton. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara, who passed in 2015. He was the last remaining of his 10 brothers and sisters and their spouses. Bob is survived by his half-brother Jim (Betty) Morton of Keyser, WV, half-sister Alma (Jack) Combs of Rawlings, MD, brother-in-law, Ronald (Marilyn) Truax, sister-in-law Rosalee (Dwight, deceased) Shier, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob was an active member of Northlawn United Methodist Church for 44 years participating in the choir and serving as the financial secretary. He also volunteered at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Bob proudly served his country with the United States Navy. He worked many years with Robert Hall and held various other positions until his retirement. He was also an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed painting, needlework and latch-hook rug making. Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 am, Monday, April 11, 2016 at Northlawn United Methodist Church (1157 Northlawn St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505) with Pastor Dan Currie officiating. Bob's visitation will also take place at church Monday beginning at 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service. Interment will follow at Fairplains Cemetery.
