Sarah Ruth Hayes (VerBurg) aged 84, of Grand Rapids passed away very peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 8, 2012 after a courageous battle with dementia. Sue was preceded in death by her late husband, Richard L. Hayes. Surviving are her loved ones, brother Jack (Betty) Williams, children; Randy (Ann) VerBurg, Steve (Nancy Guthrey) VerBurg, Janet Ann (Pappy) VerBurg, Danny (Shelley) VerBurg, Andy (Holly) VerBurg, John (Cheryl) VerBurg, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Sue enjoyed life with family and friends, being an avid Bingo player she also enjoyed playing cards and trips to the casino. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the Reyers North Valley Chapel 2815 Fuller Ave NE. Sue’s family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday from 1:00 till the time of service. In lieu of flowers donations can be given to the American Red Cross in Sue’s honor.
