

Farrey, Terrance “Terry” James Farrey, 65, of Comstock Park died Tuesday evening March 2nd at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus with his loving family by his side. He was born May 9th, 1944 in Leadmine WI and was the son of the late Donald A. and Lorraine (Balicki) Farrey. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Naval Airman during the Vietnam Era. Terry was a devout Catholic and a long time member of St. Alphonsus Church. His faith was very strong and a major part of his life. He always made people feel welcome and was well known for creating and sending cards to encourage family and friends. He was known as a “hugger” by many. Terry was a handyman that could fix anything and enjoyed working on projects. He was past commander and adjuvant for American Legion Post #258, where he also worked with special needs children for the “Mary Free Bed” project. He is survived by the love of his life Barbara (Straubel) Farrey of 42 years; four children, Kimberly Farrey, Jennifer Farrey, Donald (Rebecca) Farrey, and Tricia (David) Boggiano; a special nephew Robert (Beth) Straubel; five grandchildren, Calvin, Danielle, Mikaela, Owen, and Sam; two sisters, Kathy Austin and Pat (Rich) Cook. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Mass will be held Friday March 5th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church 224 Carrier St. N.E. with Rev. Andrew Thompson C.S.s.R. officiating Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. The Kent County Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors. Visitation will be Thursday March 4th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7:30 at Reyers North Valley Chapel. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Alphonsus Capital Campaign or the American Cancer Society with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
