Theodore Joseph Tomaszewski

Theodore “Ted” Tomaszewski, 81 of Grand Rapids, passed away , Monday, January 28 2019. Born on September 1, 1937, to Charles and Josephine Tomaszewski. United in marriage on July 21, 1962 to Carol Burmeister.

Survived by his wife of 56 years Carol, children Brenda (Joe) Peterson, Chris (Dan) Harroun, Pam (Keith) Plotner and James Tomaszewski. Grandchildren, Nathaniel, Anthony, Kendra, Rachel, Tyler, Morgan, Margo and 8 Great Grandchildren. Also survived by sister Adelle, brothers James (Ruth) and David (Jan) Tomaszewski.

Preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Josephine and sister Lorraine.

Shortly after the death of his father, Ted left home and joined the U.S. Air Force to help support the family. Afterwards he met and married the love of his life, Carol and together they raised four children. Ted was a dedicated employee of Steelcase for 27 years and was affectionately called “Mr. Steelcase.” He was an outdoor enthusiast who loved to travel. Ted was very much known for his storytelling and quick wit. He was very proud of his polish heritage and the Catholic Faith. A devoted and loving husband, father and grandpa chickie.

Visitation for Ted will be on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Blessed Sacrament Church 2275 Diamond Ave NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49505 starting at 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. Military Honors will be accorded to Ted by the Kent County Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Please make donations to Blessed Sacrament Church and the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
