Thomas J. DeBoer Sr., age 64 of Grand Rapids, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014. Tom was a United States Army Veteran. After his service, he was employed by the City of Grand Rapids. Tom was a prayer warrior for many, and was a member of Sunshine Community Church. Tom is survived by his wife of 31 years Joyla DeBoer; children Thomas (Janice) DeBoer Jr, Jason (Janet) DeBoer, Jeffrey DeBoer, Richard DeBoer, James DeBoer; grandchildren Dillon Gray, Alexis DeBoer, Thomas DeBoer III; great-grandchild Amarie Gray; brothers and sisters David (Nancy) DeBoer, Donna (Ray) Saucier, Jeanette Muskgrave, JoAnn Peek; brothers and sisters-in-law Jenean (Jim) McLean, Robert (Marlene) Koops, Merle (Barb) Koops, Wayne Koops. Tom was preceded in death by his parents William and Marian DeBoer, and his brother Butch DeBoer. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 11:00am at Sunshine Community Church. Pastor Coleman Moore will officiate. Burial will take place at Fairplains Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, from 5:00-8:00 at Reyers North Valley Chapel.
