Verna Jean Green Helder

Verna Jean Helder, 83, of Grand Rapids passed away Monday evening March 1st at her residence. She was born March 26th, 1926 in Grand Rapids and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Bauman) Green. Verna loved and enjoyed her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and sewing. She is survived by her four children, Nancy (Brand) Bronsema, Larry (Sandy) VanLoo, Maryann Keyes, and Sherrie Helder; six grandchildren, Kelly (Wayne) Piercefield, Kristy (Billy) Thomas, Kimberly (Eric) Twiss, Andrew VanLoo, Cindi (Dan) Tatman, and Katie (Mike) VanDyke; ten great grandchildren, Lane, Logan, Carley, Colton, Tyler, Ben, Aaron, Alex, Chloe, and Megan; a brother Ralph “Sonny” Green and a sister Maryann (Allen) O’Keefe. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years Gordon Helder on December 6th, 1992. Funeral Service will be Monday March 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel with Pastor Will Clegg of Wesley Park United Methodist Church in Wyoming. Burial will be in Kent Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday March 7th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral home. Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
