William Orland Tetro

He is survived by his wife Norma; daughter Barbara (Neal) DeRidder; son William B. Tetro; stepdaughter Carla (Richard) Wylie; stepson Mark (Helen) VanKoevering; his sister Glenda Polderdyke, his 14 grandchildren: Shelley (Louis) Norton, Jill Brown, Lisa (Jared) Stehouwer, Michael (Cathy) Brown, Donley VanderStoep, Grace Tetro, Nichole (Rickardo) Vallalobose-Tetro, Katie (Nate) Vandermolen, Jake (Elizabeth) VanKoevering, Mathew (Holly) VanKoevering, Kylie VanKoevering, Zachery Wylie, Rhonda Welborn and Neal (Diane) DeRidder, Jr.; 23 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren as well as many nephews and nieces.

Bill was preceded in death by his first wife Evelynne; grandson William C. Tetro; daughter-in-law Rene Tetro; his parents Glennard & Adelaide Tetro; sisters: Betty (Thomas) Nelson and Barbara Atkinson, and brothers: Robert (Joyce) Tetro and Glennard Tetro.

Bill graduated from South High School and attended Grand Rapids Junior College, Williams College and the University of Michigan. He also took advantage of the many technical and management courses offered through his employer, AT&T.

Upon his honorable discharge, after proudly serving his country in the Navy during WWII, Bill took a position with Michigan Bell Telephone. He was hired as a lineman in 1947, and served in many technical and management capacities including District Plant Manager, Division Manager and Network Services General Operation Supervisor of Operations before retiring after 35 years of service.

Serving his community was a lifelong commitment for Bill. Over the years, he was involved with the local and state Parent Teacher Association, Wyoming City Community Council, Wyoming Community Festival Committee, Wyoming Rodeo Festival as well as working with township officials to promote and celebrate the transition from a Township to a City government.

After he retired, Bill continued giving back serving as President of Lake Bella Vista Improvement Association and Administer for Lake Bella Vista Public Water System taking on responsibility for upgrading, repairing, expanding and thus operating the water system. He also worked as a project manager for upgrading and repairing the Silver Lake Water System and assisted with the incorporation of the Silver Lake Water Authority. Bill was also the Chairman for Cannon Township Fire Department Administration Board, Cannon Township Public Water System Policy and Standards Committee, and Cannon Township Wage and Salary Committee. He sat on the board of directors for FMB Bank and Honey Creek Properties.

Bill attended Calvary Church and was a member of Silver Lake Country Club as well as a 30 year member of the American Legion.

A life dedicated to serving, Bill leaves behind a legacy of making the world a better place.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday October 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Private burial will be at Rest Lawn Memorial Park.
