Bernard Meeks, resident of Belton, MO, formerly of Grandview, MO, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at St. Luke’s East hospital in Lee’s Summit, MO, at the age of 57 years.
Bernard “Bernie” was born at St. Mary’s hospital in K.C. MO in 1960 and grew up in Grandview, MO. He graduated high school from Grandview High School in 1978. Bernie received his electronics technology certificate from Electronics Institute in 1981. He was a field engineer for 34 years at Canon, Danka, and then it became Konica Minolta as the company changed names many times. He retired in December 2016.
Bernie was a very caring and generous soul. He was the type of person people enjoyed being around. He always had a smile on his face. He was a good listener when you talked to him. He cared about other people more than himself, always willing to help when he could. Bernie loved his family and tried to help his children be the best they could be. He was a very stubborn, opinionated, yet honest man. Bernie was always one you could count on to “tell it like it is”. He found Jesus and truly served, as he helped so many. His friends were a huge part of his life. He was a big supporter and very active in a 12 step program.
Bernie enjoyed playing poker and Risk. He loved the outdoors and had a passion for fishing, hunting, and sports.
He will be sadly missed by his sons, James (Darby) Meeks and Jacob Meeks; step son, Ahron Neil; stepdaughter, Alesha Duffield; two grandchildren, Karter Meeks and Lydia Duffield; father, Jim Meeks; sisters Brenda (Jim) Kellerman, Debbie (Tony) Mannino and Sherri Meeks; brother, Jerry Meeks; many nieces and nephews Jimmy(Ja’Lyn) Kellerman, Lezlie (Mike) Kellerman, Jon Kellerman, Christina (Patrick) Ryan, Melissa Mannino, Amber Brown, Mike Smith, Amanda Smith, Taylor Meeks and Cole Meeks and many cousins.
