

Christie was born on October 20, 1953, in Ottawa, Kansas, the third child of Christian (Chris) R. Jr. and Doris J. (Strickland) Krueger. She grew up in Ottawa, where she spent many happy days playing with her brother, sister, and friends. During her childhood, Christie was an active member of 4-H. She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1971.
In 1971, Christie married Lewis “Bear” Hughes. From this union, they welcomed a son, Christopher Michael, in January 1973. The couple later divorced.
Christie attended Hays Hairdressing School, where she trained to become a beautician. She worked in several salons until she was no longer able to cut hair, after which she continued her working life in the food service industry.
On May 12, 1999, Christie married Raymond R. Poulin in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in Grandview, Missouri, when they were not traveling together on the road in Ray’s semi. In her spare time, Christie enjoyed sewing and working on various crafts. She also found comfort and joy in reading the Bible and being actively involved in her church.
Ray preceded Christie in death on January 25, 2017. Her parents also preceded her in death.
Christie is survived by her son, Christopher (Mike) Hughes and his wife, Jennifer, of Mound City, Kansas; her brother, Robert (Bob) Krueger and his wife, LaDean, of Wellsville, Kansas; her sister, Carolyn Gross of Overbrook, Kansas; her niece, Donna Arnaud and her husband, Jeff, and their two sons; as well as many cousins, friends, and members of her church family.
Christie chose to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
