

Larry Steven Pirner, 60, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2011, after a courageous one-year battle against cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Pirner, and his sister, Debbie Patterson. Larry is survived by his mother, Shirley Pirner Kempker of Jefferson City, MO, his son William Ryan Pirner and wife Michele Tolbert Pirner of Belton, MO, his sister Karen Freeman and brothers Tom Pirner and Gary Pirner of Jefferson City, MO, and his father and mother-in-law Howard and Pat Tolbert of Belton, MO. Larry was an athlete and attended Helias High School in Jefferson City, MO, and joined the U.S. Navy in 1969. Larry was a dedicated hotel manager, an avid outdoorsman, and a talented chef. He enjoyed serving in a leadership capacity with Boy Scout Troop 631. Most of all, Larry enjoyed all activities that involved his son Ryan. Larry was an extraordinarily dedicated father and the two of them have always been inseparable. Larry will live on in our hearts forever as a loving father, husband, son, brother and friend. Visitation services and a rosary will take place Thursday, August 25 from 6- 8 p.m. at McGilley & George Funeral Home, 12913 Grandview Road, Grandview, MO. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 26 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, K.C., MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the "Larry Pirner Memorial Scholarship Fund", through Arvest Bank Cares Account, 360 SW M-150 Hwy, Lee's Summit, MO 64082.
