Lawrence “Larry” Wesley Fitch, 69, a resident of Blue Springs, MO, peacefully passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, with his wife and children by his side. Larry was born on June 15, 1952, in Independence, MO to Clarence and Maryetta Fitch. He was a loving, big brother to his three sisters, Nancy (Earl) Kemp, Cheryl (Al) Sutlick, and Susan (Steve) Jackley.
He married Carol Ann Mickelson (Balding) on July 1, 1989. They were faithful members of First Baptist Church of Oak Grove where Larry served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher for many years. He retired from the Independence School District in 2017. Prior to that, he worked as a master mechanic for 35 years. At home, while not in charge of the TV remote control, he loved to garden, read, and study his bible. His sense of humor made him an extraordinary storyteller. His favorite pastime was talking with people and making them laugh. He will forever be remembered for his one-liners and quick-witted comebacks as well as his love for Jesus and desire to share his testimony.
He leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Carol; son, Eric, and daughter-in-law, Meridith; daughter, Renée; son, Stephen, and daughter-in-law, Rachael; grandchildren, Joseph (Andrea), Lilibeth “Lili”, and Penelope “Poppy” as well as a niece and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services will be held at a later date. In the meantime, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of a donation to Harbor Hospice of Missouri, 211 SE Grand Ave Suite A, Lee's Summit, MO 64063.
The family extends its sincerest gratitude to Harbor Hospice of Missouri and everyone at Villages of Jackson Creek who took exceptional care of Larry in his last few months.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mcgilleygeorgegrandview.com for the Fitch family.
