Russell Lewis Ruth

Russell Lewis Ruth, 87, formerly of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away peacefully in his sleep June 29, 2018 at Truman Lakewood Care Center, Kansas City, MO. Memorial services 11:00 am August 11 at McGilley & George Funeral Home, 12913 Grandview Rd, Grandview, MO 64030. Visitation 10-11 am prior to the service. Russ was born December 6, 1930 in Shenandoah, Iowa to Mable Ruth and George Forrest Ruth. He graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1950. Russ attended college at the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg MO and Peru State College, Peru Nebraska. He service his beloved country from January 1951 to September 1954. Russ married Donna Ruth Pursell December 14, 1952. He worked in the banking business serving in most every position from teller to director of the board. Russ was active in many civic organizations: Lions Club, Together Grandview, Grandview Historical Society, Grandview Chapter of the American Cancer Society, Boy Scouts of America, Grandview School Board, Richards Gebaur Base Community Council, just to name a few.

Proceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard and Robert; son William and wife Donna. Survived by sons Richard and wife Carol, Roger and Kathy Ruth; daughter Dana and husband Brendan Egan, daughter-in-law Susan Mahlstedt Ruth, eight grandchildren Emily, Rozalind, Mark, Scott, Jessica, Thomas, Daniel and Sara; two great grandchildren Ethan and Hailey Robertson.

Russ loved his Lord with unending dedication. Family and faith were foremost in his life and the way he lived life. He was a kind, respectful, humorous man who will be missed dearly by those living in the communities in which he lived and served.
