

Virginia Bullock Ray, 95, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her devoted husband and people who loved her, at Timberlake Care Center in Kansas City, MO on Thursday, February 16, 2012. She was born April 21, 1916 in Urich, MO to Beulah and Elphus Bullock. She graduated Urich High School in 1934 and married William Ray in 1938. To this union a daughter Connie Lee was born prematurely on March 4, 1940 and passed away March 25, 1940. Virginia and Bill adopted Susan Marie who now resides in Georgia. Virginia was active in the United Methodist Women group at Grandview United Methodist Church for 45 years, having been president twice and active in many other capacities. She was very well known for her delicious gooseberry pies and other baked goods at the Church bazaars and rummage sales. The UMW was always very personal and meaningful to her. Virginia served as an officer in the Grandview Shrine and was a member of the Legion of Honor at Ararat Shrine Temple. She was a 30 year member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Grandview. Survivors include her devoted husband Bill, daughter Susan, 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, one brother Bill Bullock of Raytown, MO, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, the infant child, and sister Maxine Goddard. Services will be Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Grandview United Methodist Church, 12613 Grandview Road, Grandview, MO 64030. Visitation from 12 to 1 P.M., immediately followed by the service, followed by the burial at Urich Cemetery in Urich, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to the UMW group at the Grandview United Methodist Church.
