Agnes Miller

She was born July 10, 1906 in New Salem, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Schumacher Junglas. She lived her entire life in New Salem and was a life long member of St Mary’s Church. She married John Miller on July 19, 1932 and he preceded her in death on February 20, 1950. In addition to her husband, her father preceded her in death in 1952, her mother in 1971 and infant sister, Lucy Loretta in 1908. For 10 years prior to her marriage, she clerked at the Miller and Brooks Grocery in New Salem. Then eleven years later, when she and John became sole owners, she again returned to operating the store and continued for approximately 14 years after John’s death. After that she worked a number of years at the Stroo’s Variety Store. Agnes enjoyed traveling, genealogy, flowers, plants, her cats, writing letters in her beautiful Palmer penmanship, and baking bread, which she occasionally did past her 90th year.

She will be sadly missed by her son, Roger J. Miller and daughters, Maxine Miller and Mercelline Miller. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, many other friends, relatives and special friends, Joe and Buddy Bieber and Elizabeth Carrion.

The Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 24th at St Mary’s Visitation Catholic Church in New Salem with Msgr. Herman Zerfas, Fr. Michael Hazard and Fr. John Thome officiating, please meet at the church.

Burial will be at St Mary’s Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW in Byron Center.

The will be a Rosary recited at 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Masses or a Charity of One’s Choice.
