Alan W. Foster

FOSTER - Alan W. Foster, age 41, of Grand Rapids and Ravenna, passed away very unexpectedly, Sunday, July 16, 2006. He is survived by his parents, William A. Foster Jr., Donna M. Vaughn & C. Michael Mick Vaughn; siblings James M. and Diane Missy Vaughn, Amy L. & Jorge Lemus, C. Joseph Vaughn and fiancAC.e Laura King. Alan also leaves behind to mourn his passing, his fiancAC.e Laura Mae Coates and her children Matt, Nichole and Stacy Heeringa, Michelle Lawson and their families, as well as eight nephews, one niece, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Alan was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga. He was a member of Amvets & the American Legion in Kent City. Alan, a man of many talents & great wisdom, excelled in all he chose to do, including, but not limited to welding, woodworking, carpentry, tiling and car repairs. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and too many others to mention. He possessed a kind and loving heart and a sensitivity to the feelings of others, not found in most people. His loyalty to those he loved could not be surpassed. He believed he could “fix” the world and worked to improve quality of life for his family and friendsA-and he considered everyone he met to be his friend. Alan, while we mourn the loss of you and your special smile, laugh, and wry sense of humor, we are glad you are free at last of the demons that plagued you. May you rest in peace in the arms of the Lord. God speed our son, brother, nephew, cousin and trusted friend. We will never forget you, for you touched us all in very special ways. A time for relatives and friends to visit with Alan’s family will be held from 7-9 pm Tuesday, 2-4 & 6-8:30 pm Wednesday followed by an 8:30pm Scripture service at the Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW west building. Visitation will also be held from 10-10:55am Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3937 Wilson Ave. just prior to the 11am Mass, Fr. George Darling will be presiding.
