Becky Vinton went peacefully to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on July 7, 2021 at the age of 87. She was born to William and Daisy Stringfellow in Pine Bluff, AR. At the age of six, the family moved to Chicago. The janitor of the apartment complex where they lived invited them to North Shore Church where, in the next several years, they all came to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents William and Daisy Stringfellow; in-laws, Rev. Samuel and Marie Vinton; and brothers-in-law Frederick R. Vinton and Bill Easter. Surviving her are her beloved husband of 66 years, Rev. Samuel R. Vinton, Jr.; son, William R. (Susan) Vinton; daughter, Deborah (David) Meier; sister and brother-in-law Jane and Bob Longfield; sister-in-law, Betty (Jim) Walker; sister-in-law, Lois Vinton; brother and sister-in-law George and Dawn Vinton; grandchildren Rachel (Andrew) Brose, Christina (Aaron) Brose, Laura (Moses) Mouanoutoua, Jessica (Ryan) Rutherford, Carly (Phil) Johnson, D.J. (Crystal) Meier, Michael (Annie) Meier; and the joys of her life, her great-grandchildren Ari, Stella, Ayanna, Milo, Audrey, Isaac, and Alden.

Upon their graduation from Milwaukee Bible College (now Grace Christian University), she and Samuel Vinton were married on June 11, 1955. Five months later, they left for Congo, Africa, as missionaries under Grace Ministries International. Her primary ministries were teaching women to read and study the Bible, conducting child evangelism classes, training Congolese church leaders how to teach children, and teaching English. The family returned to Michigan in 1976 when Samuel was invited to teach at Grace Bible College. Becky joined Bible Study Fellowship and became part of the leadership team for 17 years. She taught AWANA classes at Berean Bible Church/Rush Creek Bible Church for 40 years. On several other occasions, she prepared Bible lessons which she used in teaching women in Congo, Kenya, and Zambia.

At home she was a great hostess and was known as a gourmet cook. She loved her grandchildren, and during the last four years one of her great joys was her great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed not only by her family but also by her many friends.

A funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Rush Creek Bible Church, 2334 76th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with visitation from 5:00 - 5:45 p.m. prior to the service. A light supper at church will follow the funeral. In memory of Becky and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Christian University, Grace Ministries International, or Rush Creek Bible Church. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.

Dear Dr. Sam,

We really wanted to pause and reach out to you during this sacred moment of grieving the loss of your closest human companion on earth. Even when we consider the fact that Mama Becky is now resting in the presence of our LORD, it still is a challenging time. Especially for you, Dr. Bill and Debbie. Please accept our most profound condolences. We are sad. But our memories of Mama Becky are great. She was a great person. She cared deeply about people. We had several opportunities to interact closely with her when we came to the States in 2018 and she was genuinely interested in what the LORD was doing in and through us. Then you both invited my family and Gerald over for dinner. She cooked a feast for us. And her mind was still so sharp during our conversations. We will truly miss Mama Becky. May the good LORD give you and your entire family the grace and strength you need during this grieving process. You all remain in our thoughts and prayers. Members of our extended family (ASONGS) have asked us to also extend their deepest sympathies.

We send much Love!
Joseph and Emmanuela (plus Princess and Sammy Parker)

Dear Dr Sam and family;
Jaylene forwarded the news of Becky’s promotion and it is with fond memories of the rich blessing you both were to Jane and me while we were with you in Zaire that I offer my condolences to those left behind, while looking forward to the next stage in this journey we call life when we will see Him face to face and rejoice in all He has done to and through us . Perhaps DV we will see each other on this side, if so know that if you ever come out here you are welcome to stay with us so we can catch up on what you are experiencing and learning in His never ending classroom.
In Him ,
Rich

One of the great privileges in attending Grace Bible College was the opportunity to get to know Dr. Sam and Becky Vinton. She was a gracious lady, and so kind to unselfishly share her husband with so many students and staff.

May our Lord provide much comfort to her amazing family.

I knew Becky through a Bible Study at our condo development. She was just a delight to know and her love for the Lord just was so evident. She enriched me each time we met. I shall miss her greatly.

My sympathy goes out to all of her family and friends.

So sorry to hear of Becky's passing but comforted to know that she is with the Lord. She and Sam were such good friends to my parents, Ernie and Hallie Green, and she was especially caring and helpful to mom in the years after dad passed away. Sam, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time. May the Lord bless and comfort you.
