Curt was a genuine and kind person who always had a positive outlook on life. He was always there with a smile, and he had a larger than life laugh that would always brighten my day. I always felt around Curt like there was no such thing as a “bad day”. 

Curt was a friend, leader, and role model to many.  The loss our team feels is indescribable, it’s hard to comprehend going forward without our wonderful friend.  His impact on myself and those he worked with will last a lifetime.  His legacy of warmth and laughter lives on in the culture he created with his team. I am forever grateful for the time I had with Curt; and I look forward to the day when we meet again, and he can finally show me the picture of the big fish he caught.

Hugs and prayers to all of Male family. Curt has been a awesome neighbor and true friend to us for 21 years. We will miss him greatly. A very fine husband, father, son , brother  and friend gone to soon.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Curt's passing, even though I had not seen Curt in many years I cherish the many great memories I have of him.  Carl, words fail to express my sorrow for your loss, wishing you and your family peace and comfort during this very difficult time.

Loved all the fun times we had in school and in the neighborhood. It was a blessing to have known him. Carl, Cris, Doreen and Cindy and his wife Wendy and kids, My prayers and sympathy goes to all of you. Many people are missing You, not only family but all the people that worked for you or came to the car wash. Not many can say that about a job. You sure will be missed.

You could recognize right away that Curt cared about people. A point of light in a world that needs many more people like him.  He had the ability to connect with anyone almost immediately, and was sincere in the effort he would offer those wanting to learn more.  A real example of how we should all care about others, the character we should all strive to have, and the demeanor that made him so approachable.  Curt touched so many, and he lives on in everyone he helped along the way.  My deepest sympathies to the Family.  You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Male family.  I had the PRIVILEGE to meet Curt Male in person, even though it was briefly, but I've also had the PRIVILEGE to work with his BELOVED BROTHER CARL.  Curt and Carl were twin brothers by birth, and they were both EXACTLY SIMILAR IN HOW THEY INTERACTED WITH OTHERS!!!!!!!  You could've not asked to interact with people who were more considerate, mindful, and caring for others.  We collectively are all DEEPLY SADDENED by this loss, and we will ALWAYS KEEP CURT, CARL, AND THE MALE FAMILY IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!  Some people may not realize and totally understand what Curt, Carl, and their families have endured in their lifetimes due to the health issues they've encountered, but throughout it all, Curt, Carl, and the entire Male and extended family have persevered and OVERCOME many, if not all of the unfortunate health obstacles that this GREAT AMERICAN FAMILY have endured in their lifetime.  My father died tragically in March 1972.  Having said that, I mentioned briefly to Carl in the past, that I wished that I had a dad like Carl Male.  It goes without saying that if I had a father like Curtis J. Male, my life would've been EXPONENTIALLY BETTER!!!!!!!! CURT MALE is resting comfortably in a BETTER PLACE, and without a doubt, his parents are BEAMING WITH ENORMOUS PRIDE BECAUSE OF HOW CURT MALE LIVED HIS LIFE.  CURTIS J. MALE LEFT THE WORLD IN A FAR BETTER PLACE THEN HE FOUND IT, AND CARL MALE AND THE EXTENDED MALE FAMILY WILL CONTINUE THIS AWESOME LEGACY FOR MANY, MANY YEARS TO COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE FOR THE MALE FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!  I, AND COUNTLESS OTHERS SHOULD BE BEYOND MOVED AND BLESSED TO HAVE HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO INTERACT WITH CURT, CARL OR ANY OTHER MEMBER OF THE MALE FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Curt was one of the kindest and most positive people I have had the pleasure of working with.  He genuinely cared about people and was generous with showing appreciation. Curt's spirit will live on through the impact he has had on others, and he will be greatly missed by his Mister family.

I recently moved from Texas to Michigan and Curt was one of the first people to show me around. I was completely underdressed while touring locations with him and Sean, but Curt didn’t hesitate to give me his pullover. It’s a testament to the type of human he was. Kind, giving, selfless. He literally gave me the shirt off his back and I’ll never forget it. I’ll push everyday to be half the man he was. #shinelikecurt

In 1980, 15-year-old Curt Male and his identical brother Carl were hired at Southland Auto Wash, the local Full Serve car wash in Wyoming, MI. Though just a young man working his way through high school, Curt excelled and was eventually promoted to Assistant Manager. At the time, Southland was doing a lot of detailing. I remember Curt telling stories of filling up the finishing area, two detail days, and 200’ conveyor each night with details for the next day. In 1984, Curt became the General Manager of his store, and he could hustle with the best of them. He was a cornerstone that helped grow Southland into one of the premier car wash chains in Michigan. Curt remained the GM of that store until it was acquired by Mister Car Wash in 2017.

Curt continued to GM the Wyoming store for the first few months. After some exploding growth in Grand Rapids, it was time for us to hire a second Regional Manager. There was no question that Curt was the guy we needed. I remember the excitement on his face when Tim Vaughn and I presented him with his promotion. He was totally dedicated to his new role from the very beginning.

As a leader, there is one word to describe Curt: POSITIVE! His upbeat attitude was infectious. When you asked Curt how his day was going, he would respond with an enthusiastic “Wonderful!” or “Awesome, thanks for asking!” He was a likable, high-energy person with a strong work ethic, making him the kind of leader who motivated and inspired others simply by being who he was. Not only did employees love working for him, it was common for customers to ask to see Curt just to say hello and shoot the breeze for a few minutes.

Curt was the guy who would give you $20 out of his pocket. Curt was the guy who would give you the shirt off his back.  Curt was the guy who would drop whatever he was doing and run to help you. Curt was a rock and a mentor to all of us. He was a great friend, teacher, and inspiration to the thousands of people who were fortunate to work with him, and he leaves really big shoes to fill. For all these reasons and more, Curt is and always will be a Car Wash Legend.

So sorry for the family's loss. Always enjoyed Curt's smile and talks as we would go to get our car washed. He was a great boss to both of our son's who worked at Southland during their high school years.
May God surround you all with His Love and Peace as you continue your journey in life and know that you will be with him again in eternity.

Thanks for the sweet memories.  Curt was a good man who never had a bad word for anyone.  He was a loyal and generous man.  Carl, my heart goes out to you, I pray for you everyday.  A lovely human being has been lost.  He will be greatly missed.

Curt was always welcoming with Taitum would have all of her friends over. I loved to visit him and Wendy, even if Taitum wasn’t around. He was a funny, kind and loving human and it won’t be the same without him. My heart is with you during such a heartbreaking time, Wendy, Taitum, Blake, Carl, Shelly and Kenzie, along with his many other family members and friends.

I still hear his voice and feel his hug. When I would see him Always a smile. I loved him so. Love aunt Bev

To Curt’s family:
He was truly the most kind hearted person I have ever met. He went above and beyond every single day to make sure those around him were taken care of. His smile will be missed by those who knew him. Thank you for sharing him with the car wash world for so many years.

Curt was the best boss I ever had. He was one of the first people to believe in me not only as a worker, but as a person. He taught me so many lessons about hard work, leadership, perseverance and commitment. Not only did he teach me about work, he taught me many valuable life lessons about family and friendship I still carry with me to this day. Rest In Peace, Curt.
