
Cyprian Alphius Gardine Jr., M.D., age 82, passed away on August 10, 2025, in Grandville, Michigan. Cyprian was born in Frederiksted, St. Croix, USVI, to Cyprian Sr. and Juanita Gardine and is the oldest of four children. He graduated from Colegio San Justo Episcopal Boys High School in Puerto Rico in 1960. In 1965, Cyprian graduated from Howard University Liberal Arts College with a Bachelor of Science degree. Cyprian married his college sweetheart, Judithann Hopson, in September 1965. In 1970, Cyprian graduated from Howard University School of Medicine with a Medical Doctor degree. He completed a military internship at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas in 1971 and entered Flight Medicine School at Brooks Air Force Base in the same city. He served as a Flight Surgeon in the Air Force from 1971-1974. He was stationed at Ramey Air Force in Puerto Rico and Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. Cyprian attended Case Western Reserve University for a specialty degree in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, and in 1978, returned to St. Croix, USVI.
Cyprian was preceded in death by his parents Cyprian Sr. and Juanita Forbes Gardine and sister, Vicki Gardine Smith Williams. Cyprian is survived by his devoted wife Judithann; children Jamelle Gardine Greene (Charles) and Cyprian III (Amy); grandchildren Zinna, Walter, Arthur, and Lewis; great-grandchildren Nevaeh and Saphira; sister, Letitia Gittens; brother, Richard Gardine; nephews Earl and Troy Smith and Kevin and Karl Gittens; aunt, Liane Fischer Forbes; and special cousin, Brenda Glen. He also leaves behind many golf buddies, relatives, and friends.
