Dear Jackie, I don't know if you will remember me but I used to live across the street from you on Flamingo and 42nd street...used to be Marian Kerkstra.......when I saw the news this morning of Dan's passing I was so sad. He was such a sweet, fun, great guy and you two were such a loving couple. I remember coming to your "new" house for tacos with your sister Joyce and her husband and how much fun we used to have back in the 'olden days'. Uncle Dan was the best uncle and will be greatly missed. He always liked to tease me and my mom and no matter what he would garner a laugh. He brightened a room when he was in it. I know my life will never be the same without him in it. Love you guys! Cindi

Dan, you and I have been together since 1966. I know my life will go on. But right now I don't see how I can live without your love and support. I keep wanting to call you up and tell you about this horrible thing that has happened to me and ask for your guidance and love. I know that if you could, you would be here. I pray that God will grant me the strength to get through this.

A summer with my Dan and Jackie. Just off Chicago drive there is a park, now it is 8th ave park back then the swimming area is where the grassy knoll is. Dan and Jackie had just started dating and would take myself and at times my best friend Dan to swim. Our ball had floated out to the middle of the lake. Dan decided to swim after it. with Jackie and myself on shore, Dan taking good strides to retrieve it . Jackie and I looked out and called for him to come back it wasn't worth it. You see to us it was Hugh lake, but to Dan it was merely a large pond compared to the lake his family had a cottage on. my observation of it was with every stroke Dan was letting Jackie know how much he loved her and was a strong man and he could take care of her. I'll never forget the look on my sisters face she was so concerned for him. coming back to shore Jackie had this look about her upset yet relieved. you see this isn't just about the swimming and the ball, it was the embrace and the look that they gave to each other that I never forgot because on that day in that time. it is the same look I've seen through out their life time, it never left them. that's just they way it was. I could always tell how much they loved each other through the years with that one simple look of love that they always shared with each other.

My hero , my brother Dan was such a sweet brother to me , he adored me and I always knew it. He went with Jer and I just last March and helped us make Jers end of life decision . He was my strength , and rock . He always had a great big smile on his face , and lit up the room when he entered it. When Dan was around there was a ton of laughter , and we could be a bit on the loud side. I will miss him so dearly , but as he passed away I whispered into his ear we are right behind you ,this life is short I will see you very soon!!
 To Jackie and to his children , you all rock , you all did a great job and gave it your all!!! He knew he was very loved by all of you! I love you all very much!! Xxxooo

When I see Dan's name and picture on this page, I think How can this be? He was bigger than life. There was never a day that he did not have a smile on his face . Dan loved a good joke, and was always the prankster, but he also could laugh at himself.
 The love Dan and Jackie experienced for each other was like no other I have ever witnessed.
 Rest in Peace big brother, until we are all united again.

This is so hard-saying goodbye,for now, to one of my favorite people. I am grief stricken. I have so many fond memories. I would call Jackie up to say I had a problem. Of course, he would love to help. He would come with a smile and help me fix it. They made a great team. I do not know what I would have done without this support. Dan was always kind and gentle but he could be a rascal. I knew I was in for it when Rob and him were together. Their house was always welcoming and we loved to stop by and visit. Can't imagine the rest of my life without him. God blessed us with this great person with a big, loving heart.

Dad it was hard saying goodbye to you that day. What i reallly wanted to do was say dadddy come back dont leave i need you. You have always been the strong one in the family. You have always been there for me whenever i needed you. Weather it was having surgery or just listening to me when something was bothering me. This last year you helped me get through what i thought was the hardest times if my life. I was wrong. Saying goodbye to you is the hardest . I don't know how i am going to make it this time daddy. Your not here to help me. I will always hold dear to my heart all the times we spent together. You are the best dad in the world. I love you very much.

I remember Dan as being a really nice guy, down to earth, could cut through the crap and with a sense of humor. He built that great playhouse in your back yard! Dear Jackie, Rob and I are heartbroken. For so long it has been Dan and Jackie, Rob and Joy. We have shared so much together. Family birthdays, dinners, baseball games, holidays and vacations! In good times and bad we have always been there for each other. Rob and Dan were like two peas in a pod! Always willing to help each other out and having fun while doing it! Remember when we all use to go walking at night looking for the perfect home for you? It would look like rain and Dan would say" I am a telephone man and I know for a fact it won't rain!". Of course 10 minutes later it would be pouring! So many wonderful memories with all of us together. We will miss him so much! The best brother and friend we could have. Thank you for bringing him into our lives!W

You always hear, "words cannot express the sorrow we feel" and this could not be more true. Mr. Archer was a rock, a constant, always there, always smiling, always thinking. At times it was almost as if you could tell that he was quietly thinking of the next funny thing he was about to say while immersed in a conversation. He seemed to always be in constant motion whether it was thinking about was next on this "to-do list", or running to the store, or taking care of a family member. He was always there, always strong and he will be always missed.....

Jackie, So sorry to hear that Dan passed away. I used to see him when he would be working where I was working. He was always very nice to talk to, and it was nice to hear about you and your family. Dan always brought a smile to people's faces. I enjoyed just sitting and talking with him about house projects, politics, cars, whatever came up whenever Nate and I came to visit and the boys went to play video games. Dan was a truly kind man and will be terribly missed by all who knew him.

Jackie,
 Working in the 70's with mostly men, you came to respect the very few that spoke with love and respect when referring to their wife. Dan's positive outlook on his family life was infectious. Dan and George Plumb were always joking and they were fun to be around. Dan had a quick smile and did not mind helping or answering questions from his co-workers. Dan was on a different 'crew' than myself, but parked right across from me. His smile in the morning was very 'up-lifting' to the 'New Kid' and made my days better.
 Sorry to hear of such a loss to your family. He definitely was a VERY SPECIAL person!!
