To David's family,David was such a gifted and talented artist. Always so pleasant, thoughtful and kind. He restored the antique plaster of Paris frames of my maternal grandparents. I'm so sorry for the passing of my Uncle, the one who had a passion for pole vault and talked with me often about track and field. I'll remember Uncle Dave by his wit and the half smile that he always held at the ready to crack a joke. I know David's character is a part of all of our family. My memories of Uncle David always include a laugh and a smile. He was always so fun and patient to endlessly joke and play around with us kids at every holiday gathering. I have such great memories of him up at mushroom camp, cooking us the best kind of steaks and sharing stories around the campfire. Even the stories of Uncle David as a kid were always the best!I will forever cherish the little piece of Uncle David left for me - the beautiful painting of a field in the middle of summer he gifted to me and my husband for our wedding - the happy colors in the sky and the warm tones in the grass couldn't be a more perfect representation of the fun and sweet Uncle I will always remember. I love you Uncle David, you are so very missed.

Dave Ball as I knew him:A 8x3' pool in the backyard, we had no scuba gear, in those days, so oatmeal Can's with the bottoms cut out would have to do. "I'm Lloyd Bridges" Dave would say, "I'm Lloyd Bridges" in reply. A marble would be ours to discover, in a 8x3' pool. Next, a place forbidden by, the old people who sat at the top of the hill. A place dark and full of unspeakable things, yes, across the lake. "Don't go across the lake" as soon as the cost was clear "get the ores" Dave would say, off we go, across the lake. To the snake pit, better known as, Pierson's Bracket" there we became Marlin & Jim yes, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. Looking back I think someone should have turned off the TV, less worry about what was across the lake, but I degrees.And at last the underwater adventure s of Jacques Cousteau, where we took Grandpa Paul's night crawler flashlights and made them "water proof" Grandpa Paul never could figure out why those flashlights never worked. These were the best of times, as I recall.In the words of my best friend and cousin.I will close this exactly the way he would have replied.LaFountain...

Aunt Ruth, Uncle Morris, Sue, Mike, Jim, Patti and siblings, my and Lance heart ache for the loss of David, I prayed for David when I heard, I have comfort that David will be in heaven but still there is the hard ache in missing him, Lance is on the road when he called me I could hear it in his voice his cousin and fishing buddy gone in a flash, wishing the family well in this time of grief, I pray for our family's strength often.

Dear Morrie and Ruth,We are saddened to hear of David's passing, but rejoice with you that he is now home with his Lord and Savior. I remember when David borrowed my weight lifting set and set out to become the next Mr. America. He worked hard and developed his muscles and physique. He was a very talented artist as well. Uncle David has always had a very special place in my heart. I have so many wonderful memories of him. When we had family gatherings he was the first person I would run to, I would hang around him until I had to leave. I am sure I was a pest, since I was always pulling his hair or jumping on his back, but he always had a smile on his face. He was kind, playful, happy, had crazy long hair, thoughtful and passionate about his art and cooking. I will never forget how many times he made me try some crazy pate, or the cooking lessons up north with Morel Mushrooms. I always thought of Uncle David as a unique person. He had his own way of doing things. I remember one Christmas he got my parents a box of myrrh. I thought that was so awesome, and so much like my Uncle, so creative and thoughtful. I felt Uncle David expressed his love through painting. I remember for years I nagged him about painting something just for me. One day he surprised me with my own personal painting of oranges. I LOVED IT! I hung it on my wall and told everyone that my Uncle David did this for me. On my wedding day he gave Mike and I a painting of a landscape. He also gave my brother and sister the same landscape painting, but all during different seasons. That was really something so special and meaningful to Eric, Molly and I. That is my Uncle David. I will always miss and love him.

We are so sorry to hear about David. I remember the good times growing up with him, especially our times at Little White Fish Lake. One of his first paintings, of Grandpa Hallas' chair, hangs in our home. He wouldn't sign it because he didn't think it was good enough to warrant a signature! It was nice to catch up with him at my dad's funeral. His kind spirit and artistic talent will always be remembered. Thinking about all of you, Ruth, Morrie, Susie, Mike, Jim and Patty and families.
