David J. McKenzie

McKENZIE - David J. McKenzie, age 81, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, October 21, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Ann McKenzie Cline. David will be lovingly remembered by his children, Deb McKenzie of Jenison, David Patricia McKenzie II of Cutlerville, Dean Cheryl McKenzie of Phoenix, AZ, Dale Annlyn McKenzie of Whitehall, Linh Lu of Dallas, TX; his grandchildren, Ethan McKenzie, Ryan Toner, Shaun Toner, Olivia McKenzie and Alexander McKenzie; and his special service dog, Tasha.

David had a long history in education, culminating in 19 years as Superintendent of Jenison Public Schools. The David J. McKenzie Stadium Jenison High School Football stadium was named in his honor. He received his Bachelor's of Science from Western Michigan University, his Masters Degree from Western Michigan University, and his Educational Specialist Degree from Michigan State University. David served his country in the US Army.

A time for relatives and friends to visit with David's family will be held from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Cook Funeral Home in Jenison, 1889 Baldwin St. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1481 Baldwin St.
