Dave was a passionate educator and taught for 30 years in Wyoming Public Schools at Pinery Park and West Elementary Schools. In his retirement, he spent time gardening, reading and writing about Amish education, the Civil War, history, poetry, and religion. He amassed a collection of books numbering in the thousands and had read them all. His Aunt Edna said David lived the William Butler Yeats quote, “There are no strangers, only friends you have not met yet.” His greatest passion in life was his faith in Jesus Christ and his greatest joy in life was his family.
A family committal ceremony and interment will be held at Georgetown Cemetery.
In honor of Dave and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Forest Hills Bible Chapel or Brookcrest Rehab and Life Center.
The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcares.com.
